Shelby GT500 for sale

After a 35 year absence, the Shelby GT500 made a much anticipated return in the 2007 Shelby GT500. Followed in subsequent years 2008, 2009 and now 2010, the GT500 is proving to be one of those rare sequels that's as popular as the original.

The first GT500 hit the streets hard in 1967 and ran strong for 3 years until 1969. There was even a convertible off-shoot in the 1968 GT500KR (for King of the Road). These were pure performance Mustangs created from a partnership between Carroll Shelby and Ford.

So in 2007 as a tribute to that great American Classic, Ford and Shelby teamed up once more to create the hugely popular new GT500. These new iconic Mustangs are true to their race inspired roots with a 5.4L super charged V8 topping 500 hp and 475 lb ft torque. The 2010 GT500 turns up the heat even more with a new DOHC super charged 540 hp and 510 lb ft torque. Variants of the GT500 include the GT500KR (King of the Road), GT-H (Hertz Rent-a-Racer) and GT-500 Shelby Super Snake.
