1983-1986 Mustangs for sale

1983-1986 Mustang For SaleOpen air motorists had something to celebrate in the new 1983 Mustang convertible. This was the first Mustang drop top in 10 years and sales numbers were impressive at around 23,000. This combined with the recent reintroduction of the 5.0L V8 showed that Ford was starting to get serious again with bringing performance back to the Mustang name.

The horsepower wars were starting to heat up again between GM and Ford. But this time Chevy seemed to be leading the way in refined power. The newly redesigned 1982 Camaro featured a fuel injection system for smooth, efficient power and handling that was hard to beat. Ford stuck with a carbureted V8, opting to throw in more horsepower year after year. By 1985 the GT put out a very respectable 210 hp at 4,400 RPM with it's 4 barrel Holley. This was enough to keep a slight edge over the Camaro on straight line performance. But as fuel prices continued to climb Ford finally saw the writing on the wall for the iconic carburetor. By 1986 the V8 powered GT Mustangs for sale were finally fuel injected.
