<p>This is certainly one of the prime collectible Mustangs; a 1968 big block 390-4bbl convertible and it's in gorgeous shape. The Acapulco Blue with the immaculate Parchment interior and convertible top are a very striking combo. And that undercarriage is just a work of art. It literally could have just rolled off the assembly line back in 1968.</p>

<p><em>Shipped new to Hayes Motor Company in Sioux City, Nebraska, this muscle car was delivered to its new owner nine days after it was built. Aesthetically the car differs from new with its new parchment interior rather than the original medium blue, and the new parchment top matches the new interior and the white GT "C" stripe better than the original black top. It's hard to argue with the result!</em></p>
<p><em>Marketers hyped the 1968 Ford Mustang as "The Great Original" and "the most exciting car on the American road." The shape certainly helps: Crease lines ran from the expertly finished upper front fenders to loop around simulated scoops ahead of the rear wheels before running forward into the lower doors. The 1968 grille, more deeply inset and retaining its galloping horse, is as new. New GT fog lamps seem to "float" within the grille. Stainless trim from the reveal moldings down are as new, the top is new, the paint is fresh, straight and clean, the taillights and other chrome accents are new and the chrome wheels with their Firestone Wide Oval F70x14 tires are new. The result is an extremely attractive, eye catching car done to a very high standard!</em>

<p><em>With federal safety and emissions standards now in force nationwide, some Mustang engines were detuned for '68, but the 390's rating actually went up a little to 335. This engine, original to the car, was completely rebuilt along with the rest of the car and has gone fewer than 20 miles since it was finished. Aside from the new paint and chrome valve covers and air cleaner lid, there's a full compliment of ECS Automotive stickers and decals, date coded spark plugs and battery cables, the correct Autolite battery and more. Inspection stickers dot the firewall while a re-cored radiator sits up front. Correct reproduction hoses carry all fluids from antifreeze to power steering. The original Holley carb sits under the air cleaner and the original distributor sits up front with the original water pump. Suffice to say there's not a lot of room for improvement here!</em></p>
<p><em>Engineers are a persistent lot, and all '68 Must</em><em>angs got more detail refinements. The front suspension was again tweaked to improve ride and handling. Just as laudable, the available power front-disc brakes switched from fixed to "floating" calipers which provided extra stopping power with no extra pedal effort. Ford recognized the necessity of front discs for hot Mustangs by making them a mandatory option with the 390 and 427 engines. For its restoration, new steering components, new brake lines, hoses and hard parts along with all new fuel components were installed underneath this car. Correctly applied red oxide primer with black overspray shields crisp sheet metal and inspection marks and details abound under here. Ford's 9" rear with 3.25 gears runs out back with a full rebuild. There's a new, correct exhaust system from head pipes to resonators to the crossflow muffler to the quad tips. Bare m</em><em>etal parts are protected for the long haul, though, so get out and enjoy this one!</em></p>
<p><em>Slide behind the deluxe wheel and sit on the freshly restored seat. There's a new wood grain knob on the Hurst shifter to keep your right hand busy while new pedal pads feel great under your feet. The fresh dash rides under a new dash pad, new carpeting and new sill plates make the floor look like new and new door panels sit at your side. The original AM radio works in its location above the very cool roll top console door, the gauges all work and all lights and indicators light as they should. Beauty and function? You bet!</em></p>
<p><em>From its deep finish to its restored chassis this is a 'stang on the move. This '68 is the very definition of an investment grade Mustang! A convertible, numbers matching, Marti report and a very cool big block and four speed combothey don't make '68 Mustangs much hotter than this!</em></p>

<p><strong>1969 Mustang Boss 429 - Sale Price $198,000<br />
</strong>This Wimbledon White specimen of pavement pounding Mustang lore fetched a hefty price. Being one of just a few legendary Boss 429 cars certainly helped. Let's face it. The semi-hemi 429 engine is what makest this car a legend. But this particular example is even more rare. Not sold to the public, this dealer backed drag car. The already amazing engine was build to Holman Moody NASCAR specs and stroked to 525 cubic inches.</p>
<p>The Boss 429's were created so Ford could qualify for NASCAR competition. The rules stated the engine needed to be installed in at least 500 production cars. And even though Ford's car of choice for NASCAR was the Torino, there was nothing in the rules stating the production car needed to be the same model. The Mustang was the clear choice from a sales standpoint and hence the Boss 429 was born.</p>

</strong>In addition to the more typical classic Mustangs, there were several late model and specialty cars sold this year. A good example is this Gray and Black 2008 Roush P51A. This particular car is #104 of 151 built. These <a title="Roush Mustangs for sale" href="http://allstangs.com/sale/roush-mustangs-for-sale">Roush Mustangs</a> had the 4.6 liter completely rebuilt and upgraded to handle the conservatively rated 510 horsepower and 510 ft/lb of torque, which is made possible by the RouchCharger Supercharger system.</p>

</strong>Here's a lovely example of how much value these first generation Mustangs still hold. A great combination of the much desired convertible body style and the rare K code Hi-Po 289 engine. All topped off with a 4 speed transmission, Pony interior, factory Air Conditioning and the GT package.</p>
<p>This car is one you have to see in person to appreciate. The restoration was simply immaculate, the paint perfect and the interior flawless. This car has won numerous awards and has been featured in several magazine photo shoots.; and for good reason!</p>
<p>And in addition to it's historic value as an example of the great first Pony car, this particular car also has a little bit of Rock and Roll, having been owned by sons of the late Ricky Nelson.</p>

<p>I recall stories told of sailors in the late 60's coming in to port in San Diego or San Francisco and pooling their money together to "rent-a-racer" at Hertz. They'd pull that Shelby out of the Hertz rental parking lot, drive down to the local drag strip, swap out the rear tires for slicks and have a night of it!<span id="more-212"></span></p>
<blockquote><p><span>This beautiful <a title="Shelby GT350 for sale" href="http://allstangs.com/shelby-mustangs/1965-1966-shelby-mustang">Shelby GT350H</a> was originally delivered in December 1965 to JD Ball Ford in Miami.  It came equipped with the Hertz Special Wheels, Radio, &amp; Brake Booster. With delivery and inspection, the total invoice price to Hertz was a whopping $3,887.45. After a little over a year with Hertz, the car came back to JD Ball Ford and was subsequently sold.  JD Ball purchased it from Hertz for $2,800.</span></p>
<p>The car is pretty much spotless and will disappoint absolutely no one.  Everything on the car can best be described as "as new".  The photographs give a very good representation of this classic mustang but if you have any special requests or particular questions, do not hesitate to call me.</p>
