I just purchased a ski country special from California. It is now back in the Denver area and looks mostly original and unrestored. It has been repainted but looks like Aspen Red.

I just heard back from Bob. He has about 12-15 cars currently in the Ski Country Special Registry. They just don't surface often. He also gave me a total production number of 198 which has been confirmed by Kevin Marti using Ford records. Of that 198 most are coupes. The fastbacks are extremely rare.

I've updated the blog text above to reflect this new info.

Thanks for your questions!

These cars are very rare today. With most being repainted it's hard to say how many are still driving around as normal Mustangs waiting to be discovered.

There is a Registry for the Ski Country Special that Bob Teets runs. (He also runs the High Country Special Registry for 66-68 cars) Last I heard he didn't have many cars registered. I'll bug him and see if I can get updated info to post.
