1999-2004 Mustang Convertible

The Mustang went under the knife in 1999 as the Mustang received re-skin that Ford stylists labled a "New Edge" design. The name and style was both a follow-up and antidote to Jack Telnack’s aerodynamic "jellybean" styling of the previous years. In 2000, the Mustang Cobra convertible came a long way. The Mustang had evolved significantly in the last year, but the public still wanted more. Ford partially answered their demands by reinstating the regular Cobra with all 320 horses. Unlike the Cobra however, the base and GT models added many new stylish features for the 35th anniversary. These included a raised hood scoop, special side scoops, a reshaped trunk lid spoiler, plus black headlamp surrounds.

In 2002 Mustang sales were surprisingly low and when coupe body style wasn't selling, then neither was the convertible. In the spring of 2003, the SVT Cobra reemerged and it brought back the power that was in the 2000 Cobra but at a more reasonable price. Because of the troublesome sales in 2002 Ford realized it needed to pull out the big guns. Thanks to this the Mustang SVT Cobra made a grand comeback with an insane 390 horsepower and 390 foot pounds of torque. For the convertible lover who craved the wind in their hair, the SVT gave them more wind then they knew what to do with.
