1965 & 1966 Mustang Convertible

Over 73,000 Mustang convertibles were made in 1965 (over 100,000 counting the partial year 1964 1/2) making it the single best sales year for the convertible. The next year, 1966 was just slightly behind with over 72,000 sold. The original Pony car was hot off the blocks and met with tremendous enthusiasm from the public. Base price was just over $2500, but hardly anyone bought a bone stock Mustang, especially the fun loving convertible body style. That was half the draw to the Mustang; you could customize it with a host of factory and dealer options.

Factory options included front disc brakes (manual), GT Equipment Group, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Air Conditioning, Power Convertible Top, Rear Seat Belts, Vinyl Roof, Deluxe Pony Interior, Backup Lights, Tinted Glass, Bench or Bucket Seats and full center console.
